Amarnth Review

Amaranth
Written by: Rachael Wade

This was a good vampire book.  It had a lot of different aspects to the vampires in this book then what you would normally think.  The book opens up with us learning about Camille Hart and her first visit to Paris.  She is trying to get away from a dangerous situation.  As we get to know her more we find that she has bad luck in love because she attracts creeps and ends up in abusive relationships.  During this visit to Paris she literally runs into Gavin Devereaux.  The get along famously and you can tell that there is a connection between them.

Fast forward 2 years.  Camille has moved to Louisiana and is going to school and working in a book store.  She is trying to get out of yet another abusive relationship.  One day she runs into Gavin in her shop and so begins an amazing love story.  During this time Camille's best friend Audrey is visiting.  On Camille and Gavin's first date Gavin brings along Gabe to keep Audrey company.  It was love at first sight for the two of them.  As the story progresses you start to see that something is just not right with Gavin and Camille is getting more curious by the minute.  He never keeps her out past midnight.

After one date Camille and Gavin come back and Andrew, Camille's abusive ex, is waiting on her front porch.  Words are exchanged and threats made.  She begs Gavin to stay with her because she is scared but he leaves her anyone.  In the middle of the night Andrew breaks in her home and tries to kill her and Gavin comes to her rescue.  When Andrew attacks her she sees that he is a vampire.  When Gavin attacks Andrew she thinks that she sees his eyes turn black and soulless.  Gavin of course explains it away and she lets him.  As you get into the book there are a lot of surprises and twists and turns.  You meet some good friends.  I found myself completely immersed in this book.

I hope that Rachael delves more into Gabe and Audrey's relationship.  I really felt that their story also needed to be told.  If you like vampire books you will like this series.

Out In Blue Review

Out In Blue
Written by:  Sarah Gilman
This was an amazing book.  I absolutely could not put it down once I started it.  I like the new approach that Sarah Gilman brought in regards to angels and demons.  Normally they are enemies but in this book the demons protect the angels from humans that are called poachers.  Fallen Angels have been hunted almost to extinction by humans because their feathers are extremely valuable.  The story in centered around a angel named Wren and a demons adopted daughter named Ginger.

Wren's parents were killed by a demons close to them named Lark and Wren escaped the angel/demon colony called Sanctuary.  He has held a grudge against demons ever since and vows to  never accept their help in any way because he thinks that they cannot be trusted.

Wren meets Ginger when she comes to warn him that poachers are waiting for him in the house that he has been hiding in ready to kill him.  In warning him Ginger came under fire from the poachers and was put into danger for that reason.  Wren felt responsible for her because she tried to help him by warning him.  Along the way Ginger and Wren fall in love.  There are a lot of twists and turns and secrets reveled.  Wren has to decide if he loves Ginger enough to be with her and if she will turn away from him when she finds out his secret ability.  Ginger finds some surprising things about herself along this journey also.  If you love stories about angles and demons or if you just like paranormal stories you will love this story.  I am hoping that she continues with this series and we get to hear more about Wren and Ginger's story and find what happens to them in their future and hopefully meet some more amazing angles and demons along the way.
